Ah! Excellent point! Now it has a use apart from being stylish.

Yeah, unfortunately the guard rolled a three. That's a critical hit. Then I rolled an 8, meaning Katt gets blinded. At least I didn't roll a 10, that would be instant death. By the way, would you guys mind putting a link to your character sheets in your signatures please? I'm having to check them every time you make an action, so it'll be a lot more convenient for me. Wow, if that had happened I would've been SOOOO pissed/sad and flat out quit right there Also to Lat, ya I suppose it does explain the eyepatch and gets it out of the way... but I was kinda hoping something like this would come up later so she could atleast have some character development during the transission to 'one eye'. :/

Don't worry, Katt. The ghoul can fix you up good as new.
Maybe instant death crits against the PCs should be taken off because of that reason. It's one thing in the game to have a lucky shot against you and restarting but for PnP RPGs it can be too harsh for players.
Also we have our first critical failure of the game!

I strongly agree, its only an annoyance to die in the games and have to reload due to dumb luck... but in this its just plain cruel to permakill someone ESPECIALLY from nowhere. Even worse when you consider we are more attached to our characters then when playing the computer game. Especially me and Katt... just looking at my DA you can see how much time, dedication and love I've put into her. While I wouldn't commit suicide in real life or anything, you can bet your ass having Katt die from 'luck of the dice' would ruin my week for me. And cause me to flat out quit the RP. Personally I'd rather have NO permakilling... characters just get knocked out for so long etc. Leave the permakilling to players who constantly do retarded things, etc. I know this is Fallout and its supposed to be a damn cruel world... but you have to remember its also a game and the players have feelings (and in my case VERY strong feelings) of their character. Example: Billy Bob charging into a pack of Deathclaws unarmed... THAT deserves a permakill. Not Radscorpion rolled a critical hit and killed Billy Bob instantly. Kinda like how I handled the Alien RP long ago... yes you could get permakilled but it was more like only if you wanted to. Even the 'life or death' situations were up to the player if they succeeded or not and the only true way to die against your will is if you weren't/didn't heal yourself with the supplied health items.

All I can say is that I agree on the points on there being no insta-death critical hits on player characters and (At this time) there being no permadeaths (There's something I want to say on this point, but can't really find the words for it. Something about making a death meaningful, but not this early on, that's for sure). Katt pretty much covered more than what I could have said, if I found the words. I know that I'm not as connected to my character as Katt is to hers or a few others to theirs, but losing him would be upsetting.

Also we have our first critical failure of the game! Unfortunately, you might have two crit fails if my trait kicks in.

Oh s***! I actually broke down laughing at that! Can't believe you choose that trait ;D I can barely type... Oh lord...
Hopefully Cheez will let him pull out his gun and letting it misfires due to that trait, blowing off his hand.

I won't get rid of PC death. I appreciate that you really like your characters, but sometimes people die. You've just got to accept it. One of my Shadowrun characters died a while back. They were my favourite character I'd ever played. I'd based her on a forum character I'd been using for a couple of years, meaning she already had a special place in my heart already, then when I played her, she was just awesome. She ended up dying from a lucky roll from a hillbilly militia member with a hunting rifle. Yes, that pissed me off majorly. It sucked. But it certainly helps if you see it more as a chance to try out a new, potentially even cooler character. Basically, what I'm trying to say is if it happened to me then no way am I going to be soft on you guys. That said, I am going to ignore the instant death critical result. That is just unfair. As for the eyepatch, you don't have to have it yet if you don't want to. Your eyes could just be healed fully. In fact, with the sort of blow you got full recovery is more likely than permanent damage. You will need a couple of stitches, but you'll be fine.

Then if I do die, I'll make sure it's an incredibly manly and heroic death. And I suppose that's true and somewhat understandable to me I'll learn to deal with it as I never really did with Shiren...

Well I suppose thats alteast some what comforting, though I'd still be devastated if Katt died from something not my fault.
And I'm glad to hear about the whole eye thing, I'm hoping that if she does lose sight in one eye it'd be in a dire circumstance during the story, like a fight with the main antagonist/boss or something... Or heck, maybe even part of the story/non-combat related. Just definitely not from a (the very first) nobody we fight.
