Pricey and un-userfriendly... Blech.
Free is good! Now two options instead of one! Thanks!

I love how someone made a rather reaching assumption about my character, which seems to have entirely colored everyone's opinion about him. Especially when it's something that goes against my personal views, and thus was going to go out of my way to avoid. *Gives Jackal A Look* Thanks a bunch.
Oh well, I'll have to play him doubly as well to make up for it. *shrug*
Alright, that came out overly spazzy. My bad.
I need to get this out there, because Jackal? You pretty much decided on a portrayal of my character that was completely inaccurate. And I really don't want said innacuracy to stick.
- Sunset would have mentioned his faith in passing, probably only in a couple phrases about "Always seeking the Signal" and stuff like that when they're having particularly tough times. - He's a gunman who happens to worship a religion, not a crazed preacher. He's not going to try and convert people, because that goes against my personal beliefs on religion. He's DEFINITELY not stupid enough to go try and convert the feckin' slavers. - He would not have tried to hit on Erin. Ever. He's too chivalrous, but I suppose the fact that he'd have been polite to her might be misinterpreted as hitting on her. - He WOULD, however, have been in tears a bit the first time he woke up in captivity, and would have been mourning the loss of someone named "Becky," who he's sure the slavers took. If anyone asked him about "Becky," though, he'd have said she was his gun. He'd also have been complaining about them taking his hat and his "Star of the Old West" with it, and as far as the latter he would have mentioned it as an icon of his faith.
Really, that's about it. Unless someone actually asked him about the Telling Visions, he'd never bring it up except in occasional quiet prayers when they had downtime. Please don't assume that he's a crazy preacher. I'm cool if you want to be hostile to him because he happens to be religious and unusually upbeat, but make sure it's for the right reasons, not because you just don't know. ^^;;;

Whoooa, hoss, hold on now.
I'm sure that it wasn't an attack on you or your character, anonymoogle. It could be that the characters themselves have preconceived opinions about the topic of religion... after all, we're talking about an age where people can worship anything from a proper bible to an active atomic bomb. If I were a wary traveler in that kind of setting, I'd be rather tough on (or afraid of) religion as well.
Remember, the poster has to express things from his or her character's point-of-view, and people can be extremely judgmental on the inside (human nature and all that). This can cause biases to surface, and if somebody isn't comfortable with something, even mentioning it one or two times offhandedly can make them feel like it's being mentioned nonstop. It's all in the character's perspective.
That being said, a good player won't allow themselves to be swayed by a player's character's unspoken feelings toward another player's character--likewise, you shouldn't let it get to you.
It's all in the name of providing an authentic experience for all of us.

Okay, I admit that I had assumed a few things about your character at first. I'm sorry for doing that foolishly, but there's a few other things that I would speak to you about. Through PM, if you wouldn't mind.

Like I said, I'm just making sure they're being hostile towards him for the right reasons.

Okay, I believe this is cleared up, hopefully. :)
Now, we are just back to square one: distracting the guard and getting out of this barn like a flock (?) of bats out of hell. Any ideas?

Hmm... The only thing I can really think of is the characters we can use for the beat down.
But we could possibly have Erin slip away and stage a fight with two other characters. Loud enough to attract the attention of the guard but not to notify any others outside the barn, and loud enough to help Erin sneak up behind him and give him a good whack over the head.

And just so you know, Anymoogle, Erin is like that. She literally is "that creepy loner child". So sooner or later there's going to be some weird stuff about everyone from her. And she does have an urge to stab anyone coming close to her, though slumping down next to her tends to get a better reception than sauntering over. (The exception to both those, are of course ghouls.)

Go Douglas!
Wouldn't you have to roll to try and start the conversation with the guard?

I think as long as you aren't trying to convince him to do/say something, distract him, etc., you don't have to roll. Just a normal "Hey, how's it going?" probably doesn't require a roll to keep the guard's attention. XD
But this one is a bit iffy. I guess if the guard is naturally curious, he'll see through it until the proposition comes out wholly.

But isn't he currently attempting to distract the guard? I would have thought that meant extra effort, which might (depending on GM leniency, of course) require a roll.

Hrm... Think... Thinking nearly done...
If he just sparked a conversation; just a greeting, it wouldn't require a roll because it's idle chat, even if it's a distraction. But if it's something that may require a decision or considerable thought of the opposition, then you would need to roll, right?

You could just place a speech roll in there, just in case one's needed. If it isn't the roll can just be ignored and no harm done.

I'm going to be distracting him by quoting the treasure sequence from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. :3 I figure I'll need a speech roll eventually when THAT part comes up. Alternatively, someone else can make an attack roll instead of my speech roll. Other than that, Sunset plans on interrogating him about Becky and his hat, but besides that he just wants to get his gun and run.
